WHY JESUS DIDN’T GLORIFY HIMSELF DURING HIS MINIST…

WHY JESUS DIDN’T GLORIFY HIMSELF DURING HIS MINISTRY

John 7:18 (NAB): Whoever speaks on his own seeks his own glory, but whoever seeks the glory of the one who sent him is truthful, and there is no wrong in him.

God the Father is the Source of the Trinity, the One who begot the Son and from Whom (alone) the Holy Spirit eternally proceeded. Christ was sent to earth by the Father. As a reliable Messenger, the Son spoke only what He had from the Father. Rather than seeking His own earthly glorification, He sought to glorify the Father. If Christ sought His own glory on earth, He could’ve had it alot easier! Instead, this kind of ‘disinterest’ contributes to His credibility. Hence, He never said clearly “I am God.”

So why do Christians glorify Christ? Because He is the Way to the Father for human beings.
