RCMP APOLOGY UNWORTHY OF THE CROWN

I’m sorry she felt that she was mistreated“?!?!?! That’s like, “I’m sorry you felt offended” or “I’m sorry you got mad” – it’s not an apology at all! At least the cop involved was disciplined – or so they say – so maybe the Inspector was just using imprecise, colloquial language. But you’d think such an apology would be written-up by lawyers….

And speaking of “the Crown”: “In court, the Crown suggested that Ikkusik exaggerated her story to try to get a lesser sentence.” (For Americans, in this latter instance “the Crown” refers to the prosecution, DA, State’s Attorney, etc…a sometimes unfortunate convention under the Monarchy, because sometimes Canadian prosecutors behave unworthily just like sometimes U.S. ones do.) Will the prosecutors apologize too?
