BUBBA/DUBYA/BUSINESS/CONTRIBUTORS QUIET COUP D’ETAT AGAINST “INDEPENDENT” FEDERAL AGENCIES, SCIENTISTS, EXPERTS, PLACES US ALL AT RISK!

Remember the Bushies silencing government Global Warming scientists? Now a further “unitary executive” dictatorial “order” places right-wing political, ideological officers in all agencies, just like the Soviet Union and Nazi Germany had in every factory, military unit, and collective farm. It also asserts White House power to quash proposed regulations if they cost their business friends too much.

This must violate Congressional enabling legislation of agencies….

They’re supposedly most upset about the Environmental Protection Agency and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration. They basically want us all dead, as I’ve said before!

“In an interview on Monday, Jeffrey A. Rosen, general counsel at the White House Office of Management and Budget, said, ‘This is a classic good-government measure that will make federal agencies more open and accountable.'”

THIS is a classic example of doublespeak! Bush’s order is more accurately described as a classic BAD-government measure that will make the agencies LESS open and accountable. It even asserts a pResidential power to exempt regs from public notice and input in “emergencies” it declares itself. (Like Katrina?!!! NOT!) This appears to be under the influence of a sneaky hyper-market-forces failed appointee of Bush’s, to whom he may give a now-all-powerful federal job for the remainder of his [unless-impeached] term in office. I guess not all women are “compassionate” after all….

Yes, this actually started with Clinton: the dark side of “It’s the economy, stupid”!!! We should’ve known. Of course, some of us did. But the DLC pulled the wool over the rest of our eyes.

If they were really concerned just about agencies acting beyond their statutory powers, they’d prevail in a just court, or even moreso in today’s pro-business courts. This really looks like game/set/match against FDR’s New Deal, as well as Teddy Roosevelt’s Progressive-Era reforms, which of course “conservatives” hate pathologically. Unless WE THE PEOPLE can prevail in court. But of course there are fewer and fewer just courts in this country.

NY Times coverage. Truthout.org semi-critique.
